When you need to remote access a computer, webcam, or security camera, you need to know the IP address assigned to that device.
If the device was allocated a dynamic IP address, the IP address will at some point change leaving you locked out.
The way to get around this, is to either “lease” a static ip address from your internet service provider which can be expensive, as they charge you a monthly fee for a static IP address, or use a dynamic domain name service ( DDNS ) like staticIP.io
How does staticIP.io work.
You create a free domain name like mywebcamera.staticIP.io which points to your dynamic IP address.
A small software app is installed on your computer that updates your staticIP.io when your dynamic IP address changes. Your staticIP.io address will always point to your current IP addresss. You will never be locked out again!
